During The Upcoming World Cup, YouTube Will Be Stocked With Highlights And Athlete Vlogs

We’re just days away from the start of the 2018 World Cup, which will take place across Russia during June and July. If you can’t catch the action live — and since some of the matches will start at 6 AM ET, we won’t blame you if you can’t — there’s no reason to fret. All you need to do is head over to YouTube, where broadcasters like Telemundo and Fox will share highlights in “near-live” fashion. Meanwhile, some of the athletes participating in the Cup, such as Brazilian defender Marcelo, will share their own experiences in Russia via vlogs.

Telemundo’s YouTube highlights are part of a deal between its parent company, NBCUniversal, and Google. The broadcaster’s Spanish-language highlights will appear in Google searches and will arrive on YouTube shortly after they are filmed and cut. To add depth to its World Cup coverage, Telemundo will also share eight episodes of Somos Mundial, in which host Joanna Hausmann

will explore the history of Latin American national soccer teams.

More details about Telemundo’s World Cup plans can be found here.

According to ESPN, Marcelo will share regular video dispatches from Russia, where his Brazilians are among the pre-tournament favorites. Here’s his first update from soccer’s biggest stage; English subtitles are available:

If you’d prefer some English-language World Cup content, Fox will post its share of highlights, according to USA Today. No matter which language you prefer, you’ll want to tune into YouTube once the World Cup begins on June 14.
