Reddit Co-Founder Alexis Ohanian To Serve As “Technology Liaison” For Casey Neistat’s New Company

Casey Neistat is recruiting more entrepreneurial muscle for 368 — his new business venture that comprises an office space in New York that he’s building into a collaborative hub for creators (all while vlogging the journey daily).

After Patreon founder Jack Conte pitched Neistat on a collaboration that was later revealed to be a scholarship or residency program for creators, Neistat is now partnering with Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian in a way that also seems fairly nebulous. On camera, Neistat propositioned Ohanian about serving as 368’s “technology liaison” — to which Ohanian promptly agreed despite the fact that both men conceded they didn’t know exactly what the position would entail. Neistat says that he hopes Ohanian will help 368 to “leverage technology beyond what’s currently available to help enable and support small creators.”

Neistat says that one of the goals of 368 is to discover and promote nascent creators — roughly akin to the way in which Reddit helps surface the most interesting content across the web. Rather than comparing 368 to Reddit, however, Ohanian likened 368 to the startup incubator Y-Combinator — except that Neistat’s venture will harness its educational and financial support exclusively in the video realm.

“Not knowing anything about what it will entail, I personally would love to help be your technical liaison,” Ohanian says. “[368] needs to happen. That kind of education — you’re not going to get it at Stanford.”
