Two aspiring actors who made their names on YouTube have been cast in an NBC pilot called Bright Futures. Lilly Singh, who is set to flex her acting chops in HBO’s forthcoming film adaptation of Fahrenheit 451, and American Vandal star Jimmy Tatro will appear in the sitcom about a group of friends stumbling through their twenties to become successful professionals.
Bright Futures is the brainchild of Black-ish creator Kenya Barris, as well as Grown-ish writers Hale Rothstein, Danny Segal, and Isaac Schamis. Lisa Kudrow will narrate the single-camera series, whose ensemble cast also includes model-actress Emily Ratajkowski (Gone Girl), Shameik Moore (The Get Down), and Calum Worthy — who also starred in Netflix‘s true crime spoof, American Vandal, alongside Tatro.
Singh will play Sid, a recent med school graduate who wanted to become a doctor just so that people would refer to her as such, according to Deadline. Tatro will play Berger, an ostensible hater who is actually incredibly loyal to the group of friends.
Singh, who counts 13.5 million subscribers on her flagship YouTube channel, is repped by WME and Sarah Weichel Management. Tatro, who is far less active on YouTube but still counts 3 million subscribers, is repped by UTA and Felker Toczek Suddleson Abramson.
