In First Statement On Logan Paul Suicide Video, Jake Paul Says His Brother Will “Learn From His Mistakes”

In the three weeks since Logan Paul posted a controversial and much-derided video in which he exploited the body of an apparent suicide victim in Japan Aokigahara forest, voices from across the online video industry have piped up to share their opinions on the vlogger’s insensitive decision. One creator, though, chose to be pretty quiet on the matter: Logan’s brother, Jake.

11 minutes and seven seconds into a video uploaded on January 22, the younger Paul offered his first public comment on his older brother’s big mistake. At the end of one of his own vlogs, he offered what appeared to be a carefully-rehearsed statement. “I think what Logan did was very, very, very wrong, and he made a huge mistake,” Paul said. “And not only is he paying for it, but he is learning from it, and i think in no way, shape, or form is suicide a joke.”

Paul, who is no stranger to controversy himself, also sought some forgiveness on his brother’s behalf. “I know in the back of his head he didn’t mean to offend or hurt anybody,” Paul said, “and he is honestly truly truly sorry.”

Sticking up for Logan Paul at this particular moment in time may bring Jake some criticism, but as the younger brother explained, he and his sibling have a familial bond. “He’s my brother and I love him,” Paul said. “Brothers always have to have each other’s backs.”
