Ed Sheeran’s “Shape Of You” Becomes 4th YouTube Video To Surpass 3 Billion Views

British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has just joined an illustrious circle of musicians on YouTube.

Sheeran’s music video for “Shape Of You” has become the fourth clip in the platform’s history to surpass 3 billion views. Having clocked the milestone on Monday, “Shape Of You” is also sitting pretty as the fourth most-viewed video on all of YouTube — right after “Despacito” by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee (4.7 billion views), “See You Again” by Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth (3.3 billion views), and Psy’s “Gangnam Style” (3 billion views). It should be noted that, aside from “Despacito,” no other video has yet surpassed 4 billion views.

Twenty-six-year-old Sheeran’s sway on YouTube is irrefutable: last year, when he uploaded all 14 songs from his latest album, Divide, onto the platform, he amassed 20 million views in a mere 14 hours. And the video for “Thinking Out Loud” — from his 2014 album Multiply — has also an amassed an impressive 2.1 billion views).

Other videos that are on the precipice of surpassing the 3 billion-view milestone include Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars’ “Uptown Funk,” and Justin Bieber’s “Sorry” — both of which have roughly 2.9 billion views.
