Charlie Green, The Curmudgeon Known For ‘The Angry Grandpa Show’ On YouTube, Dies At 67

One of YouTube’s most consistently cranky personalities has passed away. Charlie Green, whose outrage became the stuff of legends thanks to his YouTube channel The Angry Grandpa Show, has passed away after a battle with cirrhosis. He was 67.

Green’s son Michael, who posts vlogs of his own under the name KidBehindACamera, discussed his confirmed death in a video posted to the Angry Grandpa Show channel. After beating cancer earlier this year, Charlie was diagnosed with chirrhosis in July.

“YouTube is a very fickle game,” Michael Green said. “Some people start a channel and they rise up and the next year they’re gone. And for some reason you guys watched us for ten years, and you never went away, and dad lived his entire life seeing this channel grow to be something that none of us ever believed it could be.”

During his decade on YouTube, Charlie Green became infamous for his explosive outbursts, which often stemmed from pranks his son played on him. In his most popular video, he smashed Michael’s PS4 after the younger Green didn’t show up to bake Christmas cookies. That clip has received more than 30 million views to date and has helped drive considerable traffic to The Angry Grandpa Show, which had more than 3.4 million subscribers at the time of Charlie’s death.

Despite the volatile nature of their on-screen interactions, Charlie and Michael had a close relationship. In 2015, Michael purchased a home for his father and presented it to him in a heartfelt vlog.

Shortly before his passing, Green launched a merchandise line alongside his partners at BroadbandTV. The items in that line, which include shirts, hats, and hoodies, can be purchased here.

And here’s Green’s final tweet, sent on December 5:
