Ripple Entertainment Inks Development Deals With Author Abdi Nazemian, Drummer Patty Schemel

Ripple Entertainment, the Los Angeles-based production outfit behind digital brands like Hissyfit and Snarled, has inked development deals with author Abdi Nazemian and his longtime friend Busy Philipps, as well as former Hole drummer Patty Schemel.

The Gen Z-leaning studio, which is part of the ProSiebenSat.1-owned Red Arrow Entertainment Group, will develop a half-hour dramedy called The Walk-In Closet based on Nazemian’s award-winning novel of the same name. Produced by Philipps, it will explore the rocky road to living an honest life, and the deep bonds of friendship and community within Los Angeles’ Persian community.

Ripple has also greenlit Drum Like A Girl, a docuseries in which each episode will celebrate a pioneering female drummer, with Schemel serving as executive producer.

“We are extremely excited about the opportunity to be working with such amazing talent as we continue to diversify and expand our IP portfolio,” said Gayle Gilman

, the CEO of Ripple, who co-founded the company alongside chief strategy officer Jason Ziemianski. (Prior to Ripple, Gilman was EVP of digital content at FremantleMedia North America and Ziemianski was head of community and monetization at Big Frame). “Abdi, Busy, and Patty all bring such unique sensibilities to our network and make it incredibly easy for us to continue creating truly original content that can live across numerous platforms.”

In October, Ripple took home the ‘Best Animated Project’ award at the New York Television Festival (NYTVF) for Snarled’s Tiffany The Teenage Grim Reaper.
