Complex Promotes 3 Top-Tier Executives Within Video Unit

Complex Networks has announced a trio of promotions.

The male-focused media company, co-owned by Hearst and Verizon — which is behind popular digital brands like food-themed First We Feast and music-centric Pigeons & Planes, as well as hit series like Hot Ones and Sneaker Shopping — has named Cornell Brown (pictured above, left) GM of video, Jack Erwin GM of content, and Damien Scott (pictured above, right) editor-in-chief and VP of content and development. The announcements were made today by Complex Networks’ CEO Rich Antoniello.

The promotions arrive on the heels of the departure of Noah Callahan-Bever, Complex Networks’ former chief content officer, who has since joined Def Jam in an EVP role but will remain on av Complex advisory council. Brown formerly served as GM of video production, and Erwin was formerly the VP of content operations. Both were instrumental in guiding Complex’s transition from magazine to digital media powerhouse, and both will report to Antoniello.

Scott, who has held various roles at Complex since 2008, rejoined the company in September. He will lead Complex’s editorial and content teams, working closely with Erwin and Brown to develop new programming. Scott will report to Erwin.

Complex’s in-house video production team comprises 70 staffers who are responsible for a slate of more than 20 daily and weekly series, including Complex News, Everyday Struggle, Out Of Bounds, Sole Collector, and #Life@Complex. The network — which also includes the RatedRed and Seriously.TV verticals, says it generates over 810 million monthly video views across all platforms. In addition to its own channels, the network also distributes content in exclusive partnership with outlets like Facebook, Fuse, and go90.
