The Dolan Twins, Bretman Rock Among Most Influential Teens Of 2017, Per ‘Time’

Time magazine has unveiled today its annual list of the world’s 30 Most Influential Teens Of 2017 — and social media celebrities figure prominently on the compilation, which Time says takes into account “accolades across numerous fields, global impact through social media, and overall ability to drive news.”

This year, comedy duo The Dolan Twins, Viner-turned-mainstream popstar Shawn Mendes, and male beauty guru Bretman Rock are all being recognized.

Seventeen-year-old Ethan and Grayson Dolan — who count 27 million combined followers across Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, and Facebook — have harnessed their digital fame to successfully realize various offline ventures, Time notes, including a nationwide tour and gigs on MTV’s TRL reboot. They also took home top honors at this year’s Streamy Awards. Hawaii-based Rock, meanwhile — who is 19 and counts 9 million Instagram followers — hosted the Miss Universe

red carpet pre-show this year, and kicked off a national tour of his own last month.

Mendes, who is also 19, appeared on Time’s list of the ’30 Most Influential Teens’ last year. The noted musician has a third LP in the works following a string of hit singles including Stitches, Mercy, Treat You Better, and There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back, per Time, which has logged more than 700 million streams to date.
