Fullscreen Unveils Co-Viewing Feature Called ‘Watch Party’

When the Fullscreen streaming service launched last April, the company said it would differentiate itself from competitors with interactive features that bestowed an MTV-esque feel.

Now, Fullscreen has unveiled a co-viewing feature called ‘Watch Party‘, which allows users to invite their friends to watch its growing library of original and licensed content in tandem on mobile devices or tablets. Interestingly, Fullscreen users can invite anyone to join a Watch Party — including non-subscribers — meaning that prospective fans can gain access to the platform’s content without having to sign up.

The feature instigates a quick countdown, according to an introductory video (below) — after which programming starts and users can chat with one another in a lower window.

Fullscreen, which is priced at $5.99 per month, is far from the only streaming platform to unveil a co-viewing feature in recent months. YouTube’s Uptime app officially exited beta late last month, while Tumblr unveiled Cabana for YouTube co-viewing in April. And music video streamer Vevo unveiled a co-viewing feature in March that’s also called ‘Watch Party‘.
