VidCon Announces Industry Speakers For First Australian Gathering

VidCon’s U.S. iteration, which took place last month, may have just concluded, but the seven-year-old convention series is already gearing up for its first-ever Australian gathering, which is slated for September 9 and 10 at The Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre.

Today, VidCon announced the first fleet of industry leaders who will host seminars and workshops during the event. (Like VidCon U.S., the Australian version will offer three attendance tracks: for industry members, creators, and fans). Initial speakers include Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) managing director Michelle Guthrie, Shopify senior affiliate manager Bonnie D’Amico, Google product marketing manager Sophie Hirst, and Allure Media head Verity Beard.

A full list of confirmed speakers, including Gushcloud

CEO Althea Lim, VidCon co-founder Hank Green, and Kin Community managing director Liz Ferguson, is available here — with more names to be added in coming weeks. Tickets for the event are available here.

“The entertainment and advertising industries are in the biggest disruption since the invention of television,” said VidCon editorial director Jim Louderback in a statement. “We’re moving from interruption to influence, and from spectacle to community. There couldn’t be a better time to bring VidCon’s unique blend of actionable insight and strategic vision to Australia, and I’m looking forward to expanding our community into Melbourne and beyond.”
