Beyoncé’s Pregnancy Announcement Likely To Become Most-Liked Instagram Photo Ever

Though Instagram may have lost Justin Bieber — who quit the platform following a dust-up last year with his ex-girlfriend, Selena Gomez — it still has Beyoncé Knowles. And when the singer announced today, in rather dramatic fashion, that she’s expecting twins with husband Jay-Z, the Internet roared with glee.

“We are incredibly grateful that our family will be growing by two,” Knowles captioned a photo of herself shrouded in a green veil and kneeling before a giant floral wreath. “We thank you for your well wishes.”

Quickly, the photo exploded across social media, garnering more than 5 million likes and 300,000 comments on Instagram in just three hours. The photo is well on its way to toppling the most popular photo on Instagram right now

, a Coca-Cola ad starring Gomez posted roughly eight months ago that counts 6.3 million likes and 250,000 comments.

The announcement shook Twitter as well, with ‘Twins’ becoming the top trend on the platform minutes after Knowles’ Instagram post went live. Within 15 minutes of the announcement, Twitter said, there were over 17,000 tweets per minute about the news, and after 45 minutes, a total of 500,000 tweets about Beyoncé had been sent.

Some of the most popular tweets of the day came from the social influencer set. Check them out right here:
