Lilly Singh And Cameron Dallas Won Big At Last Night’s People’s Choice Awards

Lilly ‘Superwoman’ Singh and Cameron Dallas repped Team Internet at last night’s People’s Choice Awards — a roughly 40-year-old broadcast in which awards are entirely determined by public voting.

Singh beat out fellow creators Miranda Sings, PewDiePie, Shane Dawson, and Tyler Oakley to be named Favorite YouTube Star, while Dallas took home honors for Favorite Social Media Star, topping fellow nominees Baby Ariel, Jacob Sartorius, Liza Koshy, and Nash Grier. On the traditional media front, Britney Spears was honored for her social media prowess with the Favorite Social Media Celebrity Award.

“This is so awesome because it’s from the people,” Singh said in her acceptance speech. “The people are at the core of what I do and it’s such a huge honor…This is for the digital space [and] for everyone who follows a passion — I am so proud of you. Thank you.”

Last year, Connor Franta was named Favorite YouTuber and wine connoisseur Matt Bellassai was named Favorite Social Media Star.

While most of last night’s winners emerged from the traditional entertainment industry, Netflix took home two prizes in the TV category, including for Favorite Premium Drama Series (Orange Is The New Black) and Favorite Premium Comedy Series (Fuller House).
