Disney Has Uploaded Nearly 60 ‘Moana’-Related Music Videos And Tracks To YouTube

Disney‘s Moana is one of the year’s most celebrated animated films, and its music, written by Mark Mancina, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Opetaia Foa’i, is a big reason why. If you want to witness the musical numbers everyone is talking about without having to pay for a movie ticket, the official Disney Music VEVO channel has you covered. There, as noted by outlets like The Verge, you can find nearly 60 pieces of content related to Moana, including music videos, audio-only uploads, and karaoke tracks.

Disney’s Moana playlist includes some of the movie’s most notable tracks, including “You’re Welcome,” performed by Dwayne Johnson, and “How Far I’ll Go,” performed by Auli’i Cravalho. For fans of the film (and, in many cases, the parents of those fans), these uploads are heaven-sent, and the videos have been heavily-watched since they arrived on YouTube. In less than a month, “You’re Welcome” has close to 20 million views; in just ten days, “How Far I’ll Go” has cracked nine million hits.

It’s not surprisingly that Disney has uploaded Moana music videos to YouTube, but the speed at which those videos have arrived is remarkable. After all, Moana is still a hit at the box office, but Disney clearly doesn’t think its audience will skip the movie just because they can find its music online.

In truth, if one studio should understand the power of music distribution on YouTube, it’s Disney. A music video for Frozen‘s hit song “Let It Go” is approaching one billion views less than three years after it first arrived online. Perhaps, after years of their own sing-alongs, Moana‘s numbers will approach that territory, too.
