YouTube Updates App Thumbnails With Progress Bars On Partially Viewed Videos

YouTube just made a slight — but nifty — update to its mobile app on iOS. A new red progress bar has been added to the thumbnail of any previously-watched videos, Mac Rumors reports, to make follow-up viewing even more seamless.

“Ever have trouble remembering if you’ve seen a video or how far you made it through the video?” YouTube writes of its impetus for releasing the new feature. “We have added a progress bar to all previously watched thumbnails that lets you know how far you made it through the video. Partially watched videos will resume from where you left off.” The same progress bars are also available on YouTube’s desktop site, and mean that viewers no longer have to hunt through clips — particularly longer ones — to land on the precise moment they left off.

Last month, YouTube announced a more sweeping overhaul of its iOS app that’s more in line with its Android counterpart, according to Mac Rumors — complete with in-app editing tools, as well as recommended videos, favorite channels, and subscriptions all accessible by tapping on their respective icons or swiping cross-screen.
