Dominic ‘D-Trix’ Sandoval’s ‘Dance Showdown’ Is Back For Season 5 On Go90

Dance Showdown, the DanceOn digital network’s flagship series that pairs influencers with professional choreographers in a contest a la Dancing With The Stars — and which has collectively garnered 100 million YouTube views since its launch in 2012 — is set to return for a fifth season on November 14.

And for the first time, the show will premiere on Verizon’s go90 mobile platform as opposed to on YouTube. Dance Showdown is hosted and executive produced by Dominic ‘D-Trix’ Sandoval — an Emmy and Streamy-winning digital creator who counts 3.3 million subscribers on his YouTube channel. Seven 44-minute episodes will air every Monday beginning next week.

Dance Showdown‘s judging panel will comprise Sandoval, the popular vlogger Gabbie Hanna and pro dancer Chadd ‘Madd Chadd’ Smith (of Step Up fame). And as opposed to past seasons when one winner was crowned at the end of the series, this year one winner will be selected each week from a group of four influencers, and then crowned with a $10,000 prize. Dance Showdown is back with a whole new format that raises the stakes for our contestants,” Sandoval, who has also competed on FOX’s So You Think You Can Dance and MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew, said in a statement. “Moving to go90 allows us to feature a larger group of digital influencers across the season in a more competitive environment than ever before.”

Former bold-faced creators that have appeared on the show include Ryan Higa, Shane Dawson, Strawburry17, Meghan Rienks, and more.

Adds go90 chief content officer Ivana Kirkbride: “Izo, [DanceOn’s newly-formed parent company], has truly defined the dance category for go90 with their curation of gifted professionals, the hottest names in dance, and the best and the brightest of rising dance stars.” Izo is a multi-platform music- and dance-focused network boasting an audience of 88 million total followers and 5 billion lifetime views. The company has an exclusive programming pact with go90 to create 25 original series through 2017, including Every Single Step, Chachi’s World, Dance-Off Juniors, and Raising Heaven.
