YouTube star and noted lifestyle guru Ingrid Nilsen has launched a unisex capsule jewelry collection alongside luxury brand Mejuri that boasts the title Come As You Are. The eight-piece line features minimalist and modern designs, ranging in price from $69 for a pair of gold vermeil earrings to $140 for a gold cuff.
“This collection is meant to elevate that special connection that one has with their jewelry,” according to Mejuri, which was co-founded in 2013 by the Toronto-based entrepreneurs Noura Sakkijha and Justine Lancon. “The pieces are hand-crafted with a minimalistic design, engraved with inspiring hidden messages of positivity and strength on the inner part of the jewelry that touches the skin.”
These hidden messages, Nilsen explained in a Facebook Live session unveiling the collection, include inspirational words like ‘Be Curious’, ‘Stay Brave’, ‘Choices’, and ‘Keep Going’. “All of these words have meant something so special — they have changed my life,” she said. “And I want to be able to share that with you guys, and to hopefully give those reminders that have been so hopeful for me to you.” While ‘Be Curious’ was an aphorism that her father used to repeatedly tell her as a child, Nilsen says, ‘Stay Brave’ was a motto shared with her by Wild author Cheryl Strayed.
Another perk of Come As You Are is that the collection has been constructed with high-quality precious metals that won’t tarnish or turn skin green. Mejuri says it was founded to serve as a bridge between uber-expensive investment pieces and cheap costume jewelry.
“I wanted all of the pieces to be classic and timeless and also things that everyone could wear — whether you’re a guy or a girl or you tend to be more feminine-presenting or masculine-presenting or somewhere in between,” Nilsen said. “I really wanted this to be a collection for everyone.”
