After building a career off his over-the-top reactions to video games, PewDiePie is taking his second dip into the world of game development. The YouTube star, whose 47 million subscribers make him YouTube’s most-popular creator, has announced his new project, titled PewDiePie’s Tuber Simulator.
Someone unfamiliar with PewDiePie’s body of work may think Tuber Simulator lets its players control a day in the life of a potato, but that’s not the case. Instead, the game will offer an opportunity to play out fantasies of YouTube stardom. While few details about the project are known, The Verge speculates that Tuber Simulator players will start off as low-level YouTubers and work their way up to bonafide PewDiePie status.
“8/9 furries would recommend this game,” PewDiePie quipped on Twitter, in reference to a Tuber Simulator screenshot that shows a cat desk, a dog creator, and a dog pin-up poster. He also offered a few quick answers
to some frequently-asked questions.Tuber Simulator is being developed by Outerminds, the same studio that took the lead on the first PewDiePie-brand game, 2015’s Legend of the Brofist. The success of that title — which soared to the top of the App Store charts in the days after its release — explains exactly why Outermind, PewDiePie, and the other parties involved in Tuber Simulator are so eager to make another game.
Release details about Tuber Simulator are not yet known, but we have no doubt that PewDiePie will keep his fans in the loop about the game’s progress. Keep an eye on his Twitter feed if you’d like to snag new details as they arrive.
