Amazon Puts Ten Of Its Most-Acclaimed Pilots On Facebook And YouTube

Amazon Studios has recently shown interest in expanding the distribution network of its original series pilots, and those videos have now arrived on two new platforms. Ten of Amazon’s best pilots have been made available on the Amazon Video Facebook page and YouTube channel.

The featured pilots represent ten of the best projects Amazon Video has picked up since it first began peddling original programming back in 2013. The selection is split, with three comedy pilots, two dramas, and five children’s shows. Among those first two categories are award winners Transparent and Mozart in the Jungle, as well as Man in the High Castle, which according to a December 2015 press release is Amazon’s most-streamed show.

Until recently, Amazon’s pilots were only available on the retailer’s website and apps, where feedback from viewers helped decide which projects got picked up and which were abandoned. A week ago, Amazon shook up that strategy by announcing its plan to broadcast its most recent round of pilots on Twitch, the live-streaming service it acquired in 2014. It is unclear whether those new shows, all three of which are comedies, will eventually arrive on Facebook and YouTube as well.

The Amazon Video Facebook page has close to 323,000 fans. The subscriber count of the corresponding YouTube channel is not publicly available.
