Initially slated to close tonight at midnight, submissions and fan nominations for this year’s Streamy Awards have been extended through Friday, July 22 at 11:59 pm PST. Throughout the rest of the week, submissions and fan nominations can be made right here.
The Streamy Awards — which recognize the year’s best online videos and the creators behind them — will for the first time feature three new categories in 2016: Virtual Reality and 360-Degree Video; Live video; and Feature production, acknowledging creator-driven, feature-length films. Submissions will be judged by the awards’ Blue Ribbon Panel — a group of creators, executives, and other online video experts. Nominees will be announced in August, and the Streamys will be held in the fall.
The full list of 44 Streamys categories is available here. And, once again, in a nod to the importance of the fan community, the public will be able to choose one nominees in each category. Fan voting commenced on July 11, and the top-voted entrant in each category will automatically become a nominee. This is in addition to the two Audience Choice Awards
— Entertainer of the Year and Show of the Year — that are entirely determined by fan vote. While this is the fourth year that noted televised live event producer Dick Clark Productions and Tubefilter have teamed up for the Streamy Awards, 2016 marks the first year that the Streamys will debut an international version of the show, Streamys India, in partnership with local digital media outfit Culture Machine.
