Machinima Brings Explainer Series Called ‘FYI’ To Go90

Machinima’s newest original program is looking to explain some of the Internet’s buzziest topics. The digital gaming and fan culture network has launched FYI, a series that combines whiteboard animation, whimsical narration, and frank discussions of subjects like politics, gaming, sexuality, and more.

The first two episodes of FYI are both politically-minded. The program’s first installment focuses on Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders, while the second heads across the aisle to examine Donald Trump. These FYI episodes are the only two that will arrive on Machinima’s Facebook page and YouTube channel. The other ten installments in the series will be exclusive to Verizon-owned app Go90

, which announced a content deal with Machinima last September. The network’s other contributions to the mobile video platform include the web series Street Fighter: Resurrection, which arrived in March.

While the “whiteboard explainer” genre has been done before, FYI features some odd little touches. YouTube star Brizzy Voices provides some narration for the series, and unlike many other didactic video hosts, she’s not afraid to editorialize. The second half of the Bernie Sanders episode is almost entirely based around opinions, which is certainly unusual for an explainer series.

Future installments of FYI, however, will not be as politically charged. Other topics on the show’s docket include Juggalos, “affluenza,” and otherkin. To see Machinima’s take on those topics, tune into Go90, where new episodes of FYI will arrive each week beginning on June 15th.
