One week after it premiered its first full web series, New Form Digital has returned with a second. The young studio co-founded by Ron Howard, Brian Grazer, and Discovery Communications has brought The Parallax Theory, a sci-fi thriller helmed by YouTube star Sawyer Hartman, to the creator-friendly Vimeo On Demand selling platform.
While it was born out of the same batch of pilots that begat Oscar’s Hotel, The Parallax Theory is very different from New Form’s other new series. While Oscar’s Hotel is a whimsical romp through the colorful halls of its titular establishment, The Parallax Theory is a moody sci-fi thriller centered on a scientist who must warn the world of impending calamity. The first episode is now available for purchase on Vimeo On Demand, where interested viewers can also watch the show’s trailer:

The Parallax Theory builds on Hartman’s previous film work, much of which can be found on his YouTube channel. Some of the actors who appear in his other videos show up here as well; specifically, Vincent Cyr, a frequent Hartman collaborator who had a small role in the original pilot for The Parallax Theory, now appears in one of the lead roles. The other principal actor is Thomas Francis Murphy, a veteran actor whose recent roles have included appearances in True Detective and Salem.
Viewers who pay $9.99 to order the entire season of The Parallax Theory will receive each of its six episodes as they arrive on Vimeo. Alternatively, each installment can be purchased a la carte for $1.99.
