YouTube Launches #DearMe Campaign For International Women’s Day

Through a new initiative, YouTube is encouraging video creators to support teenage girls. In honor of International Women’s Day on March 8, Google’s online video site launched the #DearMe campaign to empower young women.

The #DearMe campaign asks the question “What advice would you give your younger self?” YouTube is asking digital creators around the world to upload video letters to their younger selves in which they provide advice and encouragement they wish they’d heard earlier in their lives. Creators can also participate in the campaign using the hashtag #DearMe on social media, or make a GIF via YouTube’s Tumblr page.

YouTube stars such as Michelle Phan

, Felicia Day, Hannah Hart, Lindsey Stirling, Grace Helbig, Bunny Meyers, and ||Superwoman|| are already confirmed participants in the #DearMe campaign. YouTube’s initiative also has support from top female leaders from around the globe, including U.S. ambassador to Japan Caroline Kennedy, British Elle editor-in-chief Lorraine Candy, and Hong Kong LGBT activist Gigi Chao.
