Twitter Now Lets You Embed Its Native Videos On Other Sites

Twitter has introduced a new way for its users to share the videos they create. The social media platform now allows its users to embed native Twitter videos on their own sites or blogs.

Twitter announced via its official developer blog that the video embeds are available for all clips created via Twitter’s iOS and Android apps. The social platform introduced video capture two months ago. The new embed widget is powered by the same JavaScript coding that allows internet users to embed tweets and place tweet buttons on their sites.

You can easily embed a Twitter video by clicking the ellipsis symbol (…) underneath a tweet that contains a video. Select “Embed Video,” and then simply copy and paste the provided HTML code wherever you want the visual piece to show up on your site.

Twitter has invested a lot of time and resources into video over the last year. The social media company hired a former YouTube executive back in March 2014 to head up its new TV and video departments. Then, at the end of 2014, Twitter promised users the site’s native video feature would debut sometime in 2015. The feature arrived in January and gave Twitter users the ability to capture and record videos up to 30 seconds in length.

With the new video embed widget, users can now share their video content outside of Twitter’s platform, which should help the social site as it continues to expand its online video presence beyond its own borders.
