Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig, Others Join Cast Of Netflix’s ‘Wet Hot American Summer’

Netflix has a few additional names to add to the already-large cast list of the upcoming Wet Hot American Summer series. The streaming video-on-demand company has tapped Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig, Jon Hamm, and Jason Schwartzman as new cast members for its upcoming original series.

According to Deadline, Pine, Wiig, Hamm, and Schwartzman will join the 20+ returning cast members from Michael Showalter and David Wain’s 2001 Wet Hot American Summer movie. The four new faces will appear as recurring guest stars in Netflix’s eight-part series. Saturday Night Live alumnus and Bridesmaids star Wiig may appear as a counselor from Camp Firewood’s rival Camp Tigerclaw, and Mad Men’s Hamm is rumored to be a secret spy. Schwartzman (from The Grand Budapest Hotel) will reportedly play the boys’ camp head counselor, while Pine (of Star Trek

and Into the Woods) has an as-of-yet-undefined role.

Netflix’s Wet Hot American Summer original series was announced back in December 2014. At the time, Showalter and Wain said they were trying to reassemble the original cast from their film, which they eventually managed to pull off despite juggling numerous filming schedules. More recently, Netflix released its first teaser trailer for the series, confirming the return of many of the original film’s cast members such as Elizabeth Banks, Bradley Cooper, and Amy Poehler.

Netflix’s Wet Hot American Summer series is presumably (and quite appropriately) set for release sometime during the summer of 2015.
