YouTubers Hank Green, Bethany Mota, GloZell Will Interview President Obama On January 22

President Obama has relied heavily on YouTube and its stars to get his platform across to younger, more digital-savvy audiences. He plans to continue this online video strategy after his upcoming State of the Union address, when YouTube creators Bethany Mota, GoZell Green, and Hank Green will interview him on January 22, 2015.

YouTube’s blog noted a select few of its prominent creators have been interviewing the President since 2010. However, those discussions were conducted via live Google+ hangouts (like this one conducted by Hank’s brother John Green where the prominent author and YouTuber asked the President why we still have the penny), and questions were submitted by viewers beforehand through YouTube video submissions.

This year, Google’s online video site is taking a different approach with a live broadcast

directly from the White House.

Mota, Green, and Green will sit down with POTUS (possibly and somewhat ironically in the Green Room, which the event’s video trailer hints at) to ask him questions about the most pressing issues facing them and their fans. The three YouTube stars are currently requesting their audiences submit questions about topics important to them using the hashtag #YouTubeAsksObama. Mota, Green, and Green will select several of these inquiries and direct them at the President during the broadcast.

YouTube hasn’t announced the time for the live interview as of yet. However, you can watch Obama’s State of the Union address on January 20 at 9 PM EST via the White House’s YouTube channel.
