YouTube is filling in one of its high-profile and vacant office desks. Google’s online video platform hired Zynga’s Manuel Bronstein to oversee the video site’s consumer products division.
Bronstein announced his move to YouTube via his Twitter feed on November 9, 2014 and on LinkedIn shortly thereafter. Re/code initially broke the news and reports YouTube has declined to comment as of yet.
Bronstein comes to YouTube with previous experience managing the product department at Zynga, where he started working in 2011. At his new gig, Bronstein will oversee all products from YouTube that will directly come in contact with consumers, taking over where previous product head Shiva Rajaraman left off (when he joined Spotify in August 2014). assumes these products are the music subscription service YouTube’s CEO Susan Wojcicki said will arrive “soon,” as well as the paid subscription service she hinted at during the Code/Mobile conference in October.Bronstein’s arrival is only one of the moving pieces recently affecting YouTube’s changing internal team. At the end of September 2014, executive Tom Pickett left Google’s video site for Otter Media. And shortly after that in October, YouTube did some rearranging of its content division to better help the site’s creators develop their content.
Now, with Bronstein on board, YouTube may be able to finally get some of those subscription services off the ground for creators and fans alike.
