Description: BBQ With Franklin is, as its name implies, a show about barbecue hosted by a man named Aaron Franklin. Across 12 episodes on the show’s official YouTube channel, Franklin shares recipes for brisket, pulled pork, ribs and barbecue sauce, while also teaching his viewers how to assemble a stellar Thanksgiving dinner.

Franklin isn’t some nobody with a grill and an affinity for YouTube. He is the owner of Franklin Barbecue, an Austin restaurant commonly ranked as one of Texas’s best barbecue joints. Hungry patrons regularly stand in lines that exceed two hours to try some of his famous brisket. While some chefs would protect such a prized recipe with their lives, Franklin is happy to share his secrets, so he teamed up with local PBS station KLRU

in order to bring his meat knowledge to the public. Now, he wants to make a second season of BBQ With Franklin, and with the help of Indiegogo backers, he hopes to share his “vast expertise and knowledge of Texas barbecue with you.”

Creator Bio: Franklin’s origin story is well-known. He started as a man with a smoker, a trailer, and a dream before rising up to his current position. Beyond his own channel, he has also appeared in videos by Parade, Zagat, and It’s OK To Be Smart.

Best Perk: We would be remiss if we did not recommend a perk that includes a taste of Franklin’s famous brisket. The cheapest option for hungry backers is a $250 package that includes a meet-and-greet with the chef himself.

Why You Should Fund It: Reason #1: Look at this plate of brisket. That is food porn of the highest order. If that doesn’t get you excited about Franklin’s barbecuing skills, you’re either a vegetarian or you need to get your eyes checked.

As far as his on-screen presence goes, Franklin keeps it simple. He acts like he knows who the star of his show is, and he lets his cooking skills do the talking. Aspiring grillers would be wise to fund BBQ with Franklin, if only so that they can use Franklin’s secrets at their own cookouts next summer.
