Ryan Seacrest, DigiTour Search For The Next YouTube Or Vine Star

Shows like American Idol are still on TV, but Ryan Seacrest has his eyes set on other entertainment options. The producer and television/radio host is partnering with the media and entertainment company responsible for “IRL” YouTube experiences, DigiTour Media, to find the next deserving YouTube or Vine artist. Seacrest and DigiTour are searching for that special group or artist to open at a select date on DigiTour 2014 for Jack Johnson and Jack Gilinsky, the comedy and musical Vine duo better known as Jack and Jack, who boast over 4.2 million followers.

And Seacrest

and DigiTour Media seem eager to find someone fast. The limited-time online search began on Wednesday, August 20 with YouTube and Vine artists asking their fans to support them by retweeting this message: Wanna see me open for @JackJackJohnson and @JackGilinsky on @TheDigiTour? Retweet this to help get me the invite! #DigiTourSeacrestPickMe.

The top 20 artists who emerge with the most retweets will be entered into an online poll tonight on RyanSeacrest.com. On Friday, August 22, the site will reveal the top 10 most voted-on contestants. And by Monday, August 25, the winner will be announced and will undoubtedly start prepping for his or her time on stage at this year’s DigiTour, which currently runs through September 10, 2014.

It’s no surprise Seacrest has turned to DigiTour as a way to tap the millennial generation for up-and-coming talent as he announced his investment in DigiTour Media earlier this year. Seacrest’s site has also been key in generating interest in several burgeoning online artists (such as Filipa, Masha, and Honey Ribar) through its fan-chosen cover contests.

This year, DigiTour expects to see more than 100,000 fans at various cities throughout the U.S., as well as London and Toronto. You can get more information about the contest on RyanSeacrest.com, and make sure you support your favorite band or singer by tweeting out the snippet above.
