Crackle’s ‘Sports Jeopardy!’ With Dan Patrick Arrives September 24

While Crackle already carries a range of entertainment, from Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee to Chosen, it’s adding one specifically for all its sports lovers. On September 24, 2014, Sports Jeopardy! will join the ranks of Crackle’s original series.

Produced by Sony Pictures Television, Sports Jeopardy! is a television quiz show in the form of (unsurprisingly) its namesake, Jeopardy, with a specific focus on the world of professional and athletic teams, individuals, and achievements. Each 30-minute episode will be hosted by Emmy-award-winning sportscaster Dan Patrick, and will be available to stream or download year-round on every Wednesday directly from all Crackle platforms.

“We’ve got a great starting lineup for the debut of Sports Jeopardy! on September 24,” said Sports Jeopardy! host Dan Patrick, in the release. “It’s the only game show that rewards you for the hours you spend on your couch watching sports and being anti-social, so reward yourself, tune in, and play along.”

Auditions were held this past summer in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Dallas, Chicago, and New York. Over 30,000 contestants applied, who were each presented with a qualifying test of 30 clues in 30 different sports-related categories. Those who passed were interviewed and performed in a mock game show. All the fanatics who qualified will appear in the show.

Sports Jeopardy! was announced earlier this year at Digital Content Newfronts, along with the renewal of Jerry Seinfeld’s Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee for an astounding four more seasons. As a forward-thinking network and distribution company, Crackle doesn’t seem to have any trouble melding traditional and online entertainment, a mix which only continues with the upcoming release of Sports Jeopardy!.
