Chris Hadfield, Epic Meal Time Celebrate Canada Day On YouTube

July 1st is Canada Day, and a few of our friends from north of the border have taken to YouTube to show pride for their native land. Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield has released a folk song about Canadian culture, while the Canucks over at Epic Meal Time have contributed a huge, poutine-filled monstrosity dedicated to their home country.

Hadfield, who is best known for his space-borne cover of David Bowie’s “Space Oddity” (which has since been removed from YouTube as part of a legal agreement), has kept himself plugged into the Internet even after returning to Earth. Hadfield is now retired, which gives him plenty of time to team up with his brother Dave and record a song about Hockey Night In Canada

, camping, strongly-pronounced R’s, and everything else that makes Canada Canada.

For Epic Meal Time, a Canada Day celebration has become a yearly tradition, and 2014 is no different. In order to celebrate their heritage, Harley Morenstein and his merry band of bacon lovers have created a monstrous sandwich filled with several layers of poutine.

These two videos show there is more to Canada than the funny way they pronounce the word “about”. On Canada Day, it’s nice to see our neighbors taking advantage their chance to shine.
