It’s another installment of the Top 100 Most Subscribed YouTube Channels Worldwide and PewDiePie still has the fastest growing fan base in all of YouTube by far.
Chart Toppers
Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg‘s PewDiePie channel is holding steady at the top of the charts this month. The interent’s most popular repository of Let’s Play videos and the occasional look into Kjellberg’s life added an additional 0.86 million subscribers in the 31 days of May. That’s just a slight 1% dip over the month prior.

Next up is Matthew Santoro. The Canadian who brings online video audiences comedy videos filled with “cool facts, interesting stories, and other things that will blow your mind!” jumped up into the #2 spot in May after collecting an additional 0.47 million subscribers.
In third place is Shakira. The singer’s World Cup anthem “La La La” gave her online video channel a big boost and helped to add over 0.43 million subscribers on the month. Because of Shakria and Santoro’s success, Katy Perry was bumped down to the #4 position in May. But the continual success of the pop star’s online video catalog gave her channel to add over 0.43 million subscribers on the month.
And rounding out the Top 5 is Britain’s Got Talent. The online video home of the popular UK-based competition TV show continued to add new subscribers in May – to the tune of 0.39 million – as its eighth television season is well underway.
Top Gainers
The honor of one of our Top Gainer this month goes to the aforementioned Matthew Santoro.
The Canadian YouTube personality witnessed an impressive 73% month-over-month increase in subscribers, propelling his channel all the way up to the #2 spot on the month. Over 0.47 million new subscribers were added thanks to a steady output of very compelling Top 10 and Top 50 videos, like The 10 Most MYSTERIOUS Secret Societies on Earth, 50 Amazing Facts to Blow Your Mind #6, and more.

The Top 100 Most Subscribed YouTube channels in the month amassed in aggregate a total of 23,445,171 new subscribers. Here’s a look at the distribution of a few of those channels broken down by the most-represented YouTube Multi-Channel Networks on the chart:
VEVO: 19 channels in the Top 100 Most Subscribed, with Shakira at #3.
Maker Studios: 13 channels in the Top 100, with PewDiePie at #1.
Fullscreen, Machinima: 9 channels each in the Top 100, with Fullscreen’s The Fine Bros at #17 and Machinima’s VanossGaming at #7.
Collective Digital Studios:6 channels in the top 100, with Matthew Santoro at #2.
DEFY Media, StyleHaul: 3 channels in the Top 100, with DEFY’s Smosh at #23 and StyleHaul’s zoella280390 at #25.
BigFrame, WMG: 2 channels each in the Top 100, with BigFrame’s mirandasings08 at #64 and WMG’s Jason Derulo channel at #80.
