Danny MacAskill Bikes Through Abandoned Town In Latest Red Bull Video

Out of all the cool videos produced by the Red Bull Media House, the ones starring trials biker Danny MacAskill are among the coolest. The 28-year-old has returned with his latest stunt video, which takes him to the abandoned Argentine village of Epecuén.

As an elderly narrator explains in the intro to the new video, Epecuén was abandoned in 1985 when a storm flooded the village. Years later, the waters receded, revealing the remains of drowned houses, shops, and streets. Once MacAskill arrives, Epecuén becomes his plaything, as he pulls of an array of jumps, flips, and wheelies across the village.

MacAskill’s videos consistently rank among the most popular offerings from Red Bull Media House. After his video “April 2009

” went viral to the tune of 34 million views, he teamed with Red Bull in November 2010 with “Way Back Home“, a stunt-filled journey to his hometown in rural Scotland. He followed that up in 2013 with “Imaginate“, which brought his childhood toys to life as a colorful skatepark. “Way Back Home” and “Imaginate” are currently the second and third-most viewed videos on the Red Bull YouTube channel respectively, trailing only Red Bull Stratos.

“Epecuén” is perhaps MacAskill’s most stunning video yet.  The empty village provides a haunting backdrop, and the decaying skeletons of old buildings allow him to pull off an array of creative and innovative stunts. Perhaps most elegant is a bit where he uses a broken seesaw as an impromptu ramp for a front flip. In a tweet, MacAskill called Epecuén “definitely the most amazing place I have ever ridden!” We’re inclined to agree.
