Top 100 Most Viewed YouTube Channels Worldwide • April 2014

Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg‘s PewDiePie channel is at the top of the charts for its second month in a row. The online video destination with over 26 million subscribers who consume video game related programming (and sometimes donate to charitable causes, too) scored nearly 296.7.2 million views in the 30 days of April, a 4% increase over the month prior.

Katy Perry‘s controversial “Dark Horse” video and upbeat, hidden camera “Birthday” video kept her in the #2 spot in the world in April. The pop star ended the month with more than 256.2 million views. DisneyCollectorBR is still up next in third place. The online video channel dedicated to featuring reviews of, and playtime with children’s toys racked up nearly 192.3 million views during the month.

Stampylonghead maintains its #4 position this month. The UK-based Minecraft-er with a penchant for education scored nearly 177.2 million views in April. And rounding out the Top 5 is WWEFanNation. The YouTube home of all things World Wrestling Entertainment was up 22% in views over the month prior to top out at nearly 145 million views overall.

Top Gainers

The honor of our Top Gainer this month goes to NikeFootball.

The international athletic brand is catching World Cup fever and attempting to spread the condition to the rest of the world by way of some very good-looking online video commercial campaigns. Nike Football: Winner Stays is the Just Do It brand’s first high-profile online video spot to launch before the biggest sporting event on the globe kicks off in Brazil this summer. The ad helped NikeFootball‘s YouTube channel score nearly 66.9 million views in April, an impressive 843% increase over the month prior.

The Top 100 Most Viewed YouTube channels this month amassed in aggregate a total of 8,121,747,342 views. Here’s a look at the distribution of those channels broken down by the most-represented YouTube Multi-Channel Networks on the chart:

• VEVO: 22 channels in the Top 100. Katy Perry is the network’s highest ranking channel at #2.
• Maker Studios: 9 channels in the Top 100, with PewDiePie at #1.
• Fullscreen, Machinima: 5 channels in the Top 100, with Fullscreen’s TheFineBros at #11 and  Machinima’s VanossGaming at #24.
• Disney, XMediaDigital: 3 channels each in the Top 100, with Disney’s DisneyAnimation at #39 and XMediaDigital’s mashamedvedtv at #12. .
• DEFY Media, Movieclips, Munhwa, NBCU, WMG: 2 channels each in the Top 100, with Defy’s Smosh at #33, Movieclips’ MovieclipsTrailers at #14, and Munhwa’s MBCEntertainment at #41, NBCU’s The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon at #29, and WMG’s AtlanticVideos at #61.

• The United States: 57 channels in the Top 100.
• Great Britain: 9 channels in the Top 100.
• Russia, South Korea: 5 channels each in the Top 100.
• Canada, Spain: 4 channels each in the Top 100.
• India, Philippines, Sweden, Thailand: 2 channels each in the Top 100.
• Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Columbia, France, Japan, Netherlands, Turkey: 1 channel each in the Top 100.
