At last night’s Academy Awards, a pair of Vine stars joined the Hollywood elite on the red carpet to do what they do best. The unrestrained Jerome Jarre and the dashingly handsome Marcus Johns both found spots on the film industry’s biggest night, where they were up to their usual shenanigans.
Johns, who has more than four million followers on Twitter’s six-second video capture platform, scored an invite to the Academy Awards through Fandango. His Vine feed ended up containing a mix of commentary, behind-the-scenes bits, and, once Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie showed up, screaming.
Jarre’s Vine updates were a little more singular, as he used his talent for bothering people in public to create Vines where he bothered celebrities in public. His best one features Pharrell Williams, who can’t help but give the camera shifty eyes when accosted by a singing French dude.
Jarre (who has 4.7 million Vine followers) was able to snag his invitation through Oscars host Ellen Degeneres, who, when she isn’t busy breaking Twitter, runs a Vine account of her own. Degeneres has had Jarre on her show before, and her most recent post on Vine is a re-Vine from Jarre and Johns, who presented a cleaning lady with an Oscar of her own. Take note of Johns’ Ellen hoodie.
When two Vine stars are interacting with the Oscars host on the night of the ceremony, it can only mean one thing: Jarre and Johns plan on hosting the Oscars in 2015. Laugh all you want, but there’s no way they would be worse than Anne Hathaway and James Franco.
