Metta World Peace Has Yet Another Web Series Under His Belt

Metta World Peace is building quite the resume for himself on YouTube. Just before the end of the year, the basketball player formerly known as Ron Artest has made it three web series in one year by starring in The 5th Quarter, a black-and-white mini-doc released by WorldStarHipHop.

The series documents Peace’s return to the Queensbridge neighborhood of New York City, where he lived as a kid. The large housing project is known as the birthplace of rappers like Nas and Mobb Deep, and Peace gives The 5th Quarter viewers a tour before heading off to his first home game as a member of the New York Knicks. The sequence where he takes the subway to the game is reminiscent of the most famous scene from Jay-Z’s recent Life + Times

documentary.

Last January, Peace was busy interviewing children for The NOC’s Metta World Therapy; more recently, he fired some bizarre questions at his teammates in a web series on the official Knicks channel. He even got a chance to star as a crazy newsman in a Key and Peele sketch. Here’s hoping we see some more Metta goodies that can continue to take the spotlight off those other YouTube videos he’s known for.
