Maker Studios Inks New Deal For More Music Rights

Maker Studios is looking to legitimize the music in its creators’ videos and dodge any potential legal action that could come its way. The top multi-channel network recently inked a deal with Epidemic Sound that brings a library of royalty-free tracks to Maker partners.

Epidemic is similar to several other services, such as YouTube’s official audio library and third-party services like Mobygratis. It provides tracks that can be sorted by mood and genre in order to create the perfect soundtrack for a specific video project.

Maker creators now have loads of options when it comes to creating their personal soundtracks, an asset that should help the network avoid more lawsuits like the one it is currently settling with the National Music Publishers Association. “We plan to use as much content from Epidemic Sound as possible,” said Maker Studios Chief Operating Officer Courtney Holt.

Judging by recent events, YouTube is beginning to take copyright infringement more seriously. Maker’s new deal will help its creators steer clear of those issues.
