Description: Space Janitors is a sci-fi parody web series created by Davin Lengyel and Geoff Lapaire. It follows the unfortunately mundane lives of two janitors aboard a Death Star-esque space station, who keep the windows clean and the floors shiny, all while dreaming of moving on to bigger and better space adventures.

Seasons one and two were distributed internationally via Geek and Sundry and scored a healthy amount of views. The Kickstarter campaign is attempting to raise the requisite funds needed to complete a budget for season 3.

Creator Bio: Even if you’ve never seen Space Janitors, you may recognize Lapaire’s name from his work on Pure Pwnage, a classic of the web series community’s early days. Lengyel, a Pure Pwnage producer,  also created Pro at Cooking, which was sort of like a nerdy, straight-faced precursor to Epic Meal Time.

Best Perk: In addition to several other elements, the top-level $2,500 perk allows the buyer to obtain a plaque naming him or her as the ‘Dark Lord of the Space Janitors Universe’.

Why You Should Fund It: In Space Janitors‘ case, all the evidence you need is available on Geek and Sundry, where the first two seasons are available for your perusal. Thanks to its hyper-aware genre parody, its actors’ straight-faced delivery, and its deft script, Space Janitors plays out like a fun blend of that one scene from Clerks and a modern, sleek sci-fi serial.

Plus, its not like Lapaire and Lengyel are two nobodies. They’ve already raised more than $200,000 through grants and a previously incomplete Indiegogo campaign; achieving their Kickstarter goal will provide the final piece of the puzzle.

To Star Wars fans looking for a laugh, we suggest you turn your attention towards outer space’s two funniest custodians.
