Countdown: Our 7 Favorite ‘Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ YouTube Videos

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire has hit theaters, and YouTube is excited. The popular book series and film franchise shares much of its audience with the typical YouTube demographic, making it a popular subject all over the site. Here are our seven favorites out the hundreds of Hunger Games videos that have popped up over the past couple of weeks.

7. The Hunger Games: Katniss Everdeen vs. Lia Marie Johnson – Archery by Lia Maria Johnson

Awesomeness TV standout Lia Marie Johnson decided to learn Katniss Everdeen’s signature skill: Archery. It looks like a fun activity, especially when you don’t have to worry about getting killed by battle-hungry tributes.

6. The Doctor Games by Brad Hansen

In addition to the Catching Fire release, this week also marks the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who, and what better way to celebrate these two franchises than by mashing them up. In this parody trailer, Brad Hansen imagines a world where all thirteen Doctors must fight to the death.

5. Catching Fire Tag by Joey Graceffa

There isn’t a bigger Hunger Games fan on YouTube than Joey Graceffa, who is, among other pursuits, a member of Hunger Games-themed band The Tributes. In anticipation of Catching Fire, Graceffa has answered some Hunger Games-related questions from his fans.

4. Authentic Katniss Braid by Cute Girls’ Hairstyles

Fashion is a big part of the Hunger Games universe, and among the thousands of relevant video released these past few weeks by the YouTube beauty community, this simple, straightforward braid tutorial stood out as one of the best.

3. 10 Things You Didn’t Know About The Hunger Games by AllTime10s

AllTime10s is always good at keeping up with YouTube trends, and the release of Catching Fire gives it an opportunity to dish out some nice Hunger Games facts. Regarding #3, I would almost sign up to get kicked in the face by Jennifer Lawrence.

2. The Hungry Games – Catching Fur by Sesame Street

Leave it to the geniuses at Sesame Street to take a movie where children violently beat each other to death and turn it into an educational web video. The best part: Peeta getting re-imagined as a pita. This would get the #1 spot, but the fact that Cookie Monster now has to eat healthy food before he gets cookies still bums me out, even if it helps combat childhood obesity.

1. Minecraft Sky Hunger Games: The New Game Begins by Sky Does Minecraft

Let’s be honest–a real-life version of The Hunger Games would be awesome if there was a way to do it without any violence. Minecraft‘s ‘Hungercraft‘ maps are the next best thing, as they allow players to participate in their own tournaments without any risk of injury. Hungercraft has proven extremely popular, and in the week preceding the release of Catching Fire, top YouTube Minecrafter Sky has begun a new game. His video takes the #1 spot due in part to Hungercraft’s impact, but the fact of the matter is that, for those who enjoy watching gameplay videos, Minecraft‘s Hunger Games spin is the cream of the crop.
