YouTube Millionaires: Maddi Jane Is A Young Talent Worth Watching

Welcome to YouTube Millionaires, where we profile channels that have recently crossed the one million subscriber mark. There are channels crossing this threshold every week, and each has a story to tell about YouTube success. Read previous installments of YouTube Millionaires here.

Maddi Jane may be young, but she’s a pro on YouTube. The 15 year old singer has amassed over a million subscribers and more than 300 million views. Like many other YouTube musicians, Maddi Jane’s most popular videos are covers of well-worn radio favorites, but she’s recently branched out and has begun creating her own original songs. We talked to young Maddi (who is part of BroadbandTV’s VISO network) about her many accomplishments.

Maddi Jane: Amazing! I’m so thankful for my fans—especially those who’ve been with me since the beginning. I feel extremely blessed and excited for what’s to come.

TF: Why did you decide to start posting music on YouTube?

MJ: I had a love for music and always knew that I wanted a future in it. Since I was 11, YouTube seemed like the best option for me.

TF: Are there YouTube musicians who have had an influence on you? Who would you like to work with in the future?

MJ: I have a lot of respect for so many YouTube artists and have recently collaborated with Matty B, Chester See and Josh Golden, all of which were really fun and great experiences. I’m definitely open to future collaborations as they make themselves available.

TF: How do you choose which songs to cover?

MJ: I typically determine which songs to sing by picking the songs I like best from the Top 40, but once in a while I’ll cover a song simply because I like it, no matter where it is on the charts.

TF: What inspired you to release a video for ‘Barricade’?

MJ: I chose to release a video for Barricade because I think it’s a song that has a message worth publicizing and giving people the opportunity to talk about.

TF: Any plans for an album?

MJ: Yes, I’ve been working on lots of new music that I can’t wait to share. The new album should be released sometime in 2014.

TF: How have you managed to balance your success on YouTube with your life as a high school student?

MJ: I think what helps me keep my life balanced is taking life one day at a time and keeping people that really know me and that will support me no matter what as close as possible.

TF: Do you ever get intimidated as one of the youngest creators with this many subscribers?

MJ: Haha, I’ve actually never thought about it that way. I’m definitely not intimidated. I just feel honored to be in this position.

TF: What are your hopes for the next year on YouTube?

MJ: Next year I hope to be releasing lots of new material on YouTube including video diaries, behind the scenes footage, and covers. I’m hoping to be able to connect with my fans in a more personal way.
