Sorted Food’s ‘eyeCANDY’ Series Is Actual Food Porn

As part of its ongoing quest to make gourmet food into an appealing topic for the predominantly young YouTube crowd, Sorted Food has brought sex into the equation. The popular culinary destination has launched eyeCANDY, a series that brings an erotic, sensual touch to the world of cooking.

The term ‘food porn’ has previous been applied in terms of the site Food Porn Daily, where one click presents each browser with instant salivation. eyeCANDY, however, takes a much more literal approach to food porn. As the four British lads behind the channel prepare a Thai Iced Tea, the camera shoots each ingredient in as sexual a way as possible. Every single liquid oozes its way into the drink while scallions are presented as a phallic symbol. Hot.

Some commenters have

taken issue with the series’ racy nature and its incredibly jumpy editing. “[We] completely understand,” said Sorted Food in reply to one of these detractors, “But that funny feeling you get ‘downstairs’ when you watch it is perfectly normal…Promise!!”

Love it or hate it, there’s no denying eyeCANDY is an extremely unique approach to cooking and a reminder that gourmet preparation can be lots of fun. With 448,000 subscribers, Sorted Food is the top channel in the Tastemade network; the ‘Machinima for food’ recently raised $10 million in funding and will now need to expand its audience beyond YouTube foodies. As with many pursuits, adding in a touch of sex appeal certainly helps draw a crowd. Judging by the activity on the #eyecandysorted Twitter hashtag, that’s exactly what eyeCANDY is doing.
