‘Jay Leno’s Garage’ Drives Into Pixar’s Motorama

It’s been nearly seven years since Jay Leno’s Garage first debuted on the internet, but the late night TV host has recently redoubled his efforts to show off his collection of classic rides. In the past year, Leno has maintained a diligent upload schedule, with car fans regularly salivating over his impressive collective of more than 150 vehicles.

Most recently, Jay Leno’s Garage has left its host’s home and ventured to the collection of another media empire. The series’ latest episode takes viewers to Pixar Animation Studios‘ Motorama, an annual car show for the company’s employees.

The pristine condition of some of the Pixar team’s vintage whips is closely tied to the two Cars films. The episode is hosted by Jay Ward, who introduces himself as Cars‘ “franchise guardian,” making him the curator behind Pixar’s shiny collection. Unsurprisingly, one of the stars of the episode is Pixar Chief Creative Officer and Cars

director John Lasseter. His collection includes an old school Model A “woodie” and a 1962 Ford Falcon named Arnold. After seeing Lasseter passionately describe his cars, I can get why he chose to direct a sequel to one of the studio’s most underwhelming films.

As with other Jay Leno’s Garage episodes, there’s a degree to which the Motorama feels like rich people showing off their favorite toys. But for car fans and Pixar lovers (i.e. everyone with a soul), it’s a fun watch. It’s also a reminder that Jerry Seinfeld isn’t the only comedian with access to a plethora of snazzy automobiles.
