Must-Watch Music Videos: Myron & E Revive 70s To ‘Do It Do It Disco’

[Editor’s Note: Two major trends have emerged in the recent history of new media: 1) Music videos are the new music and 2) YouTube is the new MTV. With that in mind and to keep you up to speed with the greatest and latest in this online video category, Tubefilter has partnered with INDMUSIC, YouTube’s largest independent music network, to bring you at least one must-watch music video every week. Turn up your volume and we hope you enjoy the analysis, sites, and sounds. For more Must-Watch Music Video installments, click here.]

Another dope release from Stones Throw Records brings us a feel good roller disco dance video from Myron & E.  ‘Do it Do it Disco’ set in a real life blast-from-the-past roller rink in Cerritos, CA. The video is a straight up 70s skate party, flush with ladies and bright disco lights throughout.  Keep an eye peeled for some custom roller skates in the video as well.  My personal faves are the patent leather Nike’s; if they had those back when I took skating lessons (yup I took roller skating lessons), I probably would never have taken them off.

After putting out a number of funk 45s with Myron & E and the Soul Investigators, the duo released their full-length record Broadway

earlier this summer.  Getting more and more attention for their live shows, Myron & E’s soulful dancey vibes translate perfectly into their videos and performances.

For Broadway, The Soul Investigators sent demos from Finland back to Myron & E in the Bay Area where the guys added vocals and lyrics.  They even took to YouTube to find more obscure tracks to send to the band for inspiration.  Edwin Starr’s ‘Running Back and Forth‘ was a favorite of E’s, which then inspired their track, ‘Everyday Love’.  There’s nothing like funk revival to get you up off the couch and dancing on a rainy day.  Regardless of the weather, I’d suggest going out, strapping on some wheels, and ‘dancing the night away.’
