Must-Watch Music Videos: DJ White Shadow’s Trilogy Of Found Footage

[Editor’s Note: Two major trends have emerged in the recent history of new media: 1) Music videos are the new music and 2) YouTube is the new MTV. With that in mind and to keep you up to speed with the greatest and latest in this online video category, Tubefilter has partnered with INDMUSIC, YouTube’s largest independent music network, to bring you at least one must-watch music video every week. Turn up your volume and we hope you enjoy the analysis, sites, and sounds. For more Must-Watch Music Video installments, click here.]

DJ White Shadow’s stock is on the rise. Discovered by Lady Gaga in 2010, the Chicago native (by way of Ohio) signed on as a producer for the upcoming fourth album from the pop sensation, ARTPOP and has credits on Gaga’s last record Born This Way. Now, he’s set to release a three EP trilogy through seminal hip hop outfit DECON records. Pussy, Drugs, Fear is the first release from the trilogy and all three videos dropped the day before our nation’s birthday, which might say something.

DJ White Shadow delivers three intense found footage super cuts, which highlight a trio of things that may or may not define us all. “Pussy’s” thematic elements run the gamut from aerobics videos to edited porn and, disappointingly enough, almost no shots of cats. Oh well, can’t win them all.

“Drugs” is sure to keep your pupils fully dilated as you float between archival footage of the stuff

and people geeking out on the stuff. Afterwards you’ll wonder if your headphones were laced with something.

Ending off on “Fear” is quite devious; even if you started with this one, you probably won’t get most of the images out of your head. However, fear not, because the bulk of the shots aren’t typically scary, but then again, some people out there may be terrified of old people dancing.

Set to DJ White Shadow’s insane trap beats and cues, all three of these videos are well worth watching on loop. And if you watch them in order, it’s a music video power playlist that’s sure to keep your pulse pounding. Get all the deets on DJ White Shadowhere and of course hit up DECON for all their upcoming releases.
