Official Comedy Expands To Spotify With Comedy Curation App

Official Comedy is the latest channel to establish a presence off of YouTube. The YouTube Original Channel run by Bedrocket has partnered with Spotify to launch an app that offers listeners a varied assortment of stand-up comedy selections.

The Official Comedy App features top comedians such as Louis C.K., Jerry Seinfeld, and Aziz Ansari, and individual playlists allow users to access a variety of performers linked together by topical subjects like “Who Doesn’t Love A Good Sex Scandal?” and “We’ve All Got Royal Baby Fever!”

“By joining forces with Spotify, we are going to impact digital comedy like never before,” said Brian Bedol, founder and CEO of Bedrocket Media Ventures. “This app will change the way we all access our favorite comedians and performances and take the experience to a whole new level.”

The app is a win for both parties. Official Comedy is now less reliant on the increasingly-shaky Original Channels format, and Spotify can publicize its comedy collection alongside its more prominent musical offerings. “The Official Comedy app on Spotify gives our users access to a customized comedy experience that is just as extensive as our music experience,” said Ken Parks, Chief Content Officer at Spotify.  “We are thrilled to be working with Official Comedy to provide fans with humorous content in a new and innovative way.”

The app can be viewed by accessing it through Spotify.
