GZA And THNKR Team Up To Preach Science To The Inner City

Wu-Tang Clan frontman GZA is known for his skills on the mic, but in a new collaboration with THNKR, he’s also showing off his skills in the classroom. The MC stars in a video where he teaches kids to love science via the ‘Science Genius‘ program.

In the video, GZA shows up at Bronx Compass High School, a school currently attempting to teach science by way of hip-hop. While there, he teaches the students about natural selection and survival of the fittest by inviting them to write raps based on these concepts. “I haven’t met any kid that doesn’t listen to hip hop,” he says in the video, “but I have met many who does not like science at all, so it’s a great way to bridge the gap.”

‘Science Genius’ is run by Dr. Christopher Emdin, an educator who wishes to inspire urban youths to become passionate about STEM subjects. The THNKR YouTube Original Channel serves as the YouTube home of Science Genius, giving Emdin and GZA a platform on which they can deliver their message. I hope GZA’s presence inspires the students so much that they later end up back on THNKR as featured wunderkinds in its Prodigies series.
