5-Second Films Seeks $200,000 On Kickstarter for 5400-Second Film

5-Second Films has grown an audience thanks to its status as the Cal Ripken, Jr. of YouTube channels. 5SF has posted a new video every weekday for the past five years, and its creative team is hoping to turn that consistency into a feature-length project. 5SF has launched a Kickstarter campaign for Dude Bro Party Massacre 3

, a film based on one of the group’s super-short comedy videos.

The Dude Bro Party Massacre 3 episode was released in 2009. It features an inverted slasher film plot so ridiculous that 5SF made a full trailer for it in 2010. Now, should the group raise $200,000 by July 1st, it will release a 5,400-second (i.e. 90 minutes) collage of dudes, bros, parties, and massacres.

Dude Bro Party Massacre will not be 5SF‘s first  brush with a longer format. The group currently releases sketches on the UPROXX Video YouTube channel, most of which run for several minutes.

5SF has included some fun perks to help incentivize its base, such as a video message from Satan and erotic playing cards (which hopefully reference this 5SF classic).

Most importantly, 5SF wants its potential donors to know that their money will not go to waste. “We’ve designed this project to keep the power in OUR HANDS. We are responsible for its creation and distribution,” says the pitch on the projects Kickstarter page. “That’s the beauty of 5secondfilms, digital distribution and Kickstarter. You don’t have to rely on an out-of-touch studio system. You only have to rely on us. And if there’s one thing you can definitely say about 5secondfilms….We’re reliable.”

As I’ve stated before, 5SF is my favorite YouTube channel. I plan on donating, and I hope you’ll do the same.
