MSN And NYTVF Want To Give Your Super-Short Form Web Series $75,000

MSN is looking for some a new web series to fund, and they plan to get it from you. The Microsoft platform has partnered with the New York Television Festival (NYTVF) for the Short-Form Storytellers Challenge, in which entrants are invited to create a web series where each episode lasts between 30 seconds and two minutes.

The contest is MSN’s way of searching for “Bold, fresh, buzz-worthy and of-the-moment concepts.” Check out the platform’s message on the challenge’s main page:

“The laws for how to create tantalizing short form video are still unwritten. Whether you’re new to the business, a grizzled media veteran, a senior executive, or a starving artist, in the business of online short-form video, we’re all on even ground. While there’s unprecedented amounts of detailed data showing what people watch, when, where and for how long on the Web, amazingly, at the same time we still have surprisingly little evidence of what – beyond viral video – is the formula for greatness in two minutes.”

Sounds perfectly nebulous to me. If you think you can be funny enough in just two minutes (and at least 30 seconds, which may be a problem for some creators

), you can enter on the NYTVF website between June 24 and August 9. The winner gets $75,000 in funding, which ends up at around $200 per second. If only the US government could generate money at that rate, we’d be out of debt in no time.
