[Editor’s Note: Two major trends have emerged in the recent history of new media: 1) Music videos are the new music and 2) YouTube is the new MTV. With that in mind and to keep you up to speed with the greatest and latest in this online video category, Tubefilter has partnered with INDMUSIC, YouTube’s largest independent music network, to bring you at least one must-watch music video every week. Hunter Hunted might seem like they have a taste for “the end of the world”, but things are just getting started for this fun LA electro pop duo. Just coming off of a well received month long residency at LA’s Bootleg Theater, some super buzzworthy sets at SXSW, and a kick ass performance on Conan to an epic sold out show at Mercury Lounge in NYC this week– it’s clear these guys are busy. Their video for “The End of the World” from the band’s self-titled EP dropped late last year when all the people in crazy Internet land thought the world was going to end on 12/21/12. Luckily the world did not end and we can all watch the video many times over. I happen to like any video where bands I’m into dress in costume and reference some of my favorite films. The video is certainly in good company boasting some pretty on point Mad Max costuming. Watch close and you can see where the band got the inspiration for their latest EP cover
.If the end is really coming, as they remind you again and again in the tune, then I for one would opt for this outcome. You can’t really complain when two pretty ladies dressed like Lady Gaga chase you through the dessert and then dance around a big bonfire with you. I guess the end of the world doesn’t always have to be a bad thing.
Hunter Hunted is reminiscent of that awesome party band from back in the day who got big and all they want to do is have you come see them and sing along to their catchy hooks. I for one am happy to oblige. Check out more tour dates here, including an upcoming NYC show with Fitz and the Tantrums.
