Reggie Watts Learns His Future On Above Average’s ‘The Future’

Reggie Watts will soon begin pumping out his own comedy videos on the newly-launched JASH channel, but until it goes fully live he will have to settle with appearing in other videos. The comedian and musician makes a guest appearance in the first episode of The Future With Emily Heller, a spot-on parody of psychic mediums.

The Future is best described as a mix between Miss Cleo and Between Two Ferns. Heller, a New York based comedian, plays the Galifianakis role, awkwardly reciting ludicrous deductions like “is there a women in your life who is…uh…uncautious…incautious?” all while keeping a straight face. Watts plays the role of the celebrity straight man, though his laid-back demeanor only adds to the cringe factor. Check out the first episode here:

Yep, no doubt about it. That four minute comedy video has more useful psychic insights than any ‘real’ tarot reading.

The director of The Future is Lonely Island member Jorma Taccone (you know, the one with the swoopy haircut), furthering Above Average‘s ties to creator Lorne Michaels‘ main claim to fame, Saturday Night Live. Taccone was kind enough to leave a comment, telling the world “I thought this was great! Not just because I directed it, but because that girl Emily seems really funny and Reggie is also very good. Cool job!” Schmoyoho have left a nice note as well. Everyone is really into The Future, and for good reason–it’s filled with plenty of laughs and is one of the best releases we’ve seen from Above Average in months.
